Anecdotes:

What are your favourite pieces and why?
“I particularly enjoy listening to and playing Chopin’s compositions, which I think are some of the most amazing works of the Romantic period. The Ballade No.1 in G minor is one of my favourites because it takes both performer and listener on a journey of emotions, with an overall melancholy and contemplative mood interspersed with moments of gentle peace, then joyful triumph, then light-hearted playfulness, before returning to the darkness of the beginning through a coda of fiery and intense passion. I would say it’s definitely worth a listen, it’s also incredibly challenging but a lot of fun to play.

Other favourites include Chopin’s Sonata No.2 in B minor, Beethoven’s Pathetique Sonata, Schubert’s Impromptu No.3 in G flat major, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and too many others to list here.

What are your earliest memories of studying music?
“Playing ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ from Suzuki Book 1, out of tune, on a quarter-size violin”

What inspires you to sit down and play music?
“o I feel that when things are just not going well, playing music is one of the best ways to have an emotional release. Music speaks to me in a way that little else can, while allowing me to express myself.”
