About:
Over the years, Manu has participated in workshops, concerts, music camps and has played with orchestras, quartets and small ensembles. She picked up the clarinet in her mid-twenties and played in a marching band. In recent years, she has been exploring new techniques on the violin with a Scottish fiddle group led by the great fiddler James Gastineau-Hills.
Manu hopes she can share the joy of music and her passion for languages with students in years to come.
Anecdotes:
How did you come to learn the clarinet?
“I was once walking along a street with my violin while a very kind elderly man walked up to me and asked me whether I was a musician. I said that yes, I was a violin teacher. He asked me whether I would be interested to have his clarinet and some sheet music, for free! He was now too old to play and wanted to give it to someone. Surprised, I said, “Yes, I’ve always loved the clarinet!” And so, we arranged for me to come pick up his instrument and his sheet music – he lived a few streets away from me. I offered to pay him but he was simply not interested! So that’s how I came to play the clarinet!”
