Anecdotes:
What inspires you to sit down and play piano?
“There are 2 main inspirations. Firstly is simply the desire to perfect and learn a piece. I particularly enjoy this because I like to experiment with different ways of playing and chose a way which best suits the piece.
I also want to play after hearing a piece of music, which I particularly like (whether from a movie or radio or internet). I want to try to replicate it as best I can and then think of variations on it.”
What are your favourite songs and why?
“Well it changes all the time but there is apiece called ‘Compassion’ written collaboratively by Nigel Westlake and Lior which I saw live at the Opera House. I would recommend it to everyone to have a listen.”
If you could travel all around the world, where is your favourite place and why?
“I have done some travelling (and would love to do more). New Zealand has such amazing natural beauty and I would say that Queenstown is my favourite place because it has an amazing burger place called ‘Fergburger’. ”
